Thursday’s Thirteen Things I Love #2
Thirteen Things Week 2
Today is week two of sharing thirteen things I love. I hope that this week I get to read more favorite things in the comments—silly and serious. I really enjoyed that! Expressing gratitude grows gratitude, and I need to continue to grow in this area.
Here we go:
- I love birds. I’m not quite sure why.
- I love when I come home with the groceries because I know it’ll be at least 10 days until I have to force myself to go again. (See how I found good in the thing I hate?)
- I love having friends over for dinner and a nice glass of wine.
- I love going for walks in the evenings, especially if we have a goal of making it all the way out to the frozen yogurt place that I love.
- I love fruity frozen yogurt when we get there—particularly the pomegranate and a little bit of original tart topped with kiwi and coconut flakes. The kiwi gets kind of frozen so when you bite into it, it tastes like a slushy.
- I love the smell of laundry fresh from the dryer.
- I love when I can wake up in the morning without an alarm or a baby crying and just enjoy some time to myself—typically holding a cup of coffee.
- I love days that are hot, but without a lick of humidity.
- I love seeing deer close up when we go for walks in forest preserves. They seem so peaceful.
- I love harvesting our garden. It feels like something come full circle—started and finished well.
- I love flossing. I need to remember that so I do it more often.
- I love starting the day off with exercise as well—remind me of that so I do it more often as well.
- I love watching our son Martell run because he has one foot pigeon toed, and he pumps his little arms across his whole body. It’s really inefficient, but so stinkin’ cute.
You’re up. I can’t wait!
1) dogs. I love dogs. I love how they love. I love their goofy grins.
2) exercising in the morning. I’ve been walking with a friend in the morning and I love talking with her and working up a sweat. Makes the day feel much accomplished.
3) Being near water. I love sitting and looking at a lake or ocean.
4) I love to bake. It’s calming and soothing to me.
5) going to concerts. I love watching people play their instruments and sing with such passion. I also love watching the crowd enjoy the music. I love, at the end, when everyone sings in unison and the artists lets the crowd sing. I love hearing the crowd sing in unison. Thousands of people joining together to make one beautiful sound.
6) I love typing. Not thumb-typing on my phone but whole keyboard typing. Why? I don’t know. I just love typing on a keyboard.
7) presents. I love a thoughtful “this made me think of you” gift. I love knowing that someone thought about me and what I like. I love that they KNEW me well enough to do that.
8) Midwestern springs, summers, and autumns. The change of season is so comforting to my soul and they’re all so unique and different from the last season. The change is new to me every time.
9) high thread count sheets. My stepmom introduced me to 500thread count sheets and I will never turn back. I have two sets I rotate between because quality over quantity. So soft and silky on my skin.
10) quiet space. Too much frenetic energy wears on me. I need quiet stillness. Usually while sitting and looking at water. ?
11) my nieces. Good lord. Is there anything more perfect than ones nieces?
12) conversation. Real conversation. Get-at-the-heart-conversation.
13) blue skies with white puffy skies and a carpet of shimmery soy beans
